All of these are from 2007. I really didn`t have a clue where I was heading but someone said that I might have the workings of a commercial artist so I kept at it.
However....it will soon become evident to you that this was my first kick at the cat as far as trying to create images professionally. Hey ! Da Vinci, Matisse, Monet, Manet and van Gogh had their starting points. All of these were just drawn with an HB pencil and some cheap coloured pencils bought at Dollarama with no computer assistance or special equipment that a lot of artists use these days. No cheating here folks ! I have absolutely no formal art training with the exception of the tutelage I recieved from my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Howard, in 1967. I do everything from heart and immagination and really haven`t a clue what I`m doing most of the time although I try and keep an eye for detail. But c`mon they have elphants in zoos in Thailand that paint pictures and they sell them fo hundreds of $$$ a pop. I`m not saying that pachyderms are stupid or anything but I`m sure they haven`t been to art school either ! They just dunk the brush in the can of paint and go nuts and then some fat cat with lots of money buys their work and hangs it on their wall a says "look at my painting, an elephant painted that". It runs a bit deeper than that and I think it`s kind of cool and the money goes towards elephant research and preservation.
The drawings I`ve selected for this brief introduction to my underdeveloped skills seek to reveal my appreciation and understanding of a number of disciplines. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did creating them. If there was an interesting story behind the inspiration for an individual drawing I`ve provided little blurbs. With time I hope my artistic prowess will improve. So if you require cheap custom artwork for any purpose do not hesitate to contact me. For reasons unbeknownst to me I already have one happy customer.
