The Night Has A Thousand Eyes
The original title for this drawing was Kingdom Of The Night but I changed it because I felt like it. What I wanted to do was make a drawing of a pride of lions tearing apart a carcass of a Thompson`s Gazelle but it didn`t pan out that well. Although part of nature it just seemed to be a little too gruesome for a drawing for the whole family. I`ve even read remarks by naturalists how witnessing a kill can be a little disturbing. Lions by nature are nocturnal hunters and stalk and kill their prey under the cloak of darkness. I thought that depicting a couple of lions lying in wait against a full moon would have a more alluring effect than a feeding frenzy with entrails slewn all over the place.
